Easter Journal

Easter book 2024

Creating this Easter journal was a special way for me to capture the feeling of the season, soft colours, new beginnings, and little moments that make this time of year meaningful.

For this project, I used my Easter Collection printables to build a journal that brings together memories and creative details in a way that feels both personal and playful.

This is the kind of project that reminds me why I love memory keeping so much, it’s not just about the pages, but about preserving the stories behind them.

Scrapbook Memory Keeping Project

In this Easter journal, you’ll see how printable papers, simple techniques and layered embellishments can be used to create a soft, cohesive memory keeping project.

Method:

I used printables from my Easter Collection to create a soft and coordinated base for the journal pages. The designs were downloaded and printed on 160gsm card (see our post on Digital Downloads for more info). I prepared the elements by fussy cutting the embellishments and washi tape that needed to be cut out.

I then cut sheets of white chipboard to the required size (15cm x 18cm) for the book pages. The front page is a bit narrower than the other pages(11,5cm x 18cm) for visual effect. I covered the chipboard pages with the various of the printed pages. I punched 2 holes on the left side of every page and inserted some ring clips to hold the book together. The ring clips were covered with pieces of pastel coloured ribbon. This is an easy way to soften the look of the clips.

I then started to decorate the pages by adding layered embellishments to bring texture and interest to the pages while still keeping the focus on the memories.

I added the words HOPPY EASTER in golden dimensional stickers (the word EASTER is actually on the next page that is visible from the front).
I love how some of the Easter eggs looked after inking them with Distress Oxide inks from Ranger in Speckled Egg and Kitsch Flamingo for this page:

I tied a piece of purple ribbon in a bow around the front page to create a focal point:

The next 2 pages were decorated with a punched border, two cut out bunnies and a piece of printed washi, cut like a ribbon and inked with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink. The word EASTER in gold was already on the page.

The third and fourth pages were also decorated with inked eggs, a cut out bunny and a tag:

The tag was finished off with a decorative brad that says LOVE.

The fifth and sixth pages also have a tag and 3 cut out bunnies:

The piece of ribbon was added to the tag by using a tiny blue staple:

Page seven and eight compliments each other well with two tags under a washi tape belly band that was matted with the yellow paper:

I ignored my fears and tried my hand at shrink plastic charms and added a charm cluster with glass beads to the journal with a bulb pin to finish off this delightful little book!
