Playing with INKS – RESULTS(3): Stamping

Stamping properties of tested inks

I will be compiling all the test results from my previous blog, Playing with INKS, and grouping it together in a way that makes sense. This is the third RESULTS-blog on Stamping.

Just to refresh your memory, I tested the following inks:

Playing with different inks to see how to use them for different techniques

I tested the following inks later. I am including their results in the results blogs, but it will not appear in the downloadable results table. (Please add it in manually if you want it all together.)

Memento Luxe Ink (Tsukineko)
Stazon Pigment Ink (Tuskineko)
Artistry Ink (Shilpi)

In this RESULTS-blog I would like to discuss my findings with regards to the stamping properties of the inks I tested:

Can you stamp with this ink?

I was very surprised that I could use all the inks to stamp with, even the alcohol inks! The quality of the stamping varied from ink to ink as can be seen:

Does it give a solid image when stamped?

I was surprised that of all the inks I tested, only the Artistry Ink, Distress Ink and the Gelatos gave stamped images that were not solid, but more distressed. All the other inks gave solid stamped images. I thought that only pigment inks would give a solid image, but I was wrong, both pigment and dye inks gave solid images and of the two inks that looked distressed, one was a pigment ink and the other a dye ink.

Can I use it on a glossy surface like a photo?

I was even more surprised when I found that I could stamp on glossy paper with all the inks. The only inks that created some problems were the Alcohol ink (there was some reaction with the paper) and the 2 Gelatos. The Gelatos smudged on the glossy paper.
