Foil flakes are a wonderful way to add shimmer and texture to titles and embellishments on your scrapbook pages. This technique allows you to transform a simple chipboard title into a beautiful focal point that catches the light and adds a touch of elegance to your project.
Foil flakes come in many colours, so you can easily adapt this technique to suit the colour palette of your page.
Technique:
This technique uses foil flakes and tacky glue to create a shimmering title that can be used on scrapbook layouts, journals and other paper crafting projects.
Watch the video below to see this technique in detail:
- Squirt a small amount of Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue onto your craft sheet.
- Lightly mist the glue with water to create a thinner, more workable glue mixture.
- Use a paintbrush to apply the watered glue mixture to the surface of the chipboard title.
- Allow the glue to dry until it becomes tacky.
- Prepare your bead tray and rub your fingers with an anti-static pad to prevent the foil flakes from sticking to your hands.
- Working inside the bead tray, press the foil flakes onto the chipboard title until the entire surface is covered.
- Use a make-up sponge to gently rub away the excess flakes. The remaining flakes will stay attached to the tacky glue.
- Return the leftover foil flakes from the bead tray back into the container for future use.
This technique was used to create the “Life’s a Journey” title in the Life’s a Journey scrapbook layout.
