Our Wedding

Our wedding double page layout

This vintage-inspired double page scrapbook layout tells the story of our wedding day, even though it took me more than twenty years to finally document it.

A scrapbook page or memory-keeping project does not always need to be overwhelmed by patterned paper and a ton of embellishments. Sometimes a simpler approach, using mainly paper and subtle techniques, can enhance your photos and memories beautifully.

In this scrapbook layout you’ll see how patterned paper, subtle stamping, inked edges and vintage embellishments can come together to create a meaningful wedding memory page.

Method:

I created this double page scrapbook layout to preserve the memories of our wedding day, which took place almost twenty-nine years ago.

To build the background, I used five different pieces of patterned paper from the same collection to create a collage effect on two white background pages. The papers are from the Prima Marketing Tea-Thyme collection, which has a beautiful vintage look that worked perfectly with the photographs.

To keep the vintage feeling consistent across the layout, all the edges of the papers were inked using Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I also lightly inked the edges of the white background pages.

A filigree stamp was used with All Purpose Ink (Vegas Gold) to add some subtle interest to the plain white background. I then added a light mist of Perfect Pearls Mist (Interference Red), which created a delicate shimmering pink effect across the page.

The die-cut butterflies were also spritzed with the Perfect Pearls Mist to give them a gentle shimmer.

For additional detail, I cut out several roses from the patterned paper and inked their edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Pieces of crocheted lace were added to enhance the vintage look and add texture to the layout.

Finally, I recorded this important date on a tag from the collection, stamped with a date stamp using the same All Purpose Ink (Vegas Gold).
