Why I Made a Junk Journal About My Birthdays
There’s something magical about junk journals. They don’t have rules — just layers of paper, pockets, photos, and pieces of your story stitched together in a way that feels… personal.
That’s what inspired this course.
I created my journal from scratch — a faux leather cover, tea-dyed pages, stitched signatures — and filled it with birthday memories. I tried to include a photo from every birthday, but for the years without any, I simply added one from around that time and wrote about what I could remember.
That process reminded me why I love memory keeping so much.
This project is about more than making something pretty — it’s about honouring your story. You can adapt this journal for any theme: travel, weddings, family history, or even as a handmade gift.

And it’s easy to make, even for beginners.
You don’t need a perfect stash or perfect memories — just a little time, a few favourite supplies, and a willingness to let your story unfold, one page at a time🩷.
