I am very blessed to know a mermaid and I love creating beautiful scrapbook pages like this Be Mermaizing page with the photos! The blues do pose some challenges though and sometimes you must make a plan to get the correct colour of paper to use for your project.
Remember that your photos should always be the most important part of your page. I created a double page layout for these beautiful mermaid photos.

Method:
Patterned paper and die cutting elements from the Little Birdie Songs of the Sea paper pack complimented this project very well:

I cut the mermaid tail paper in half in a wave shape:

I couldn’t find the correct colour blue cardstock to compliment the water in the photos, so I decided to create my own background page with the dip technique.
The ink colours I used with the dip technique for this 12×12 background page:
- Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers
- Distress Oxide Broken China
- Distress Oxide Mermaid Lagoon (just had to add this one!)
- All Purpose Ink Vegas Gold

A close-up shows the shimmer that the gold All Purpose ink adds to the page:

I used a mermaid scale embossing folder to emboss dark blue cardstock.
I inked it with the 3 Distress Oxide inks and finger daubers to give it a varied colour effect.
When it was dry, I swiped it with some Delicata Golden Glitz ink to add some shimmer and shine.

The embossed and inked cardstock was cut and fit together to create the long side strips:

I cut some letters for the title from the embossed cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo 4 and finished it off by adding some Crystal glitter paint to the edges.

The dark blue cardstock also created the perfect mats for the photos:

The die cuts from the paper pack were fussy cut to remove the white borders:

I also fussy cut the main photo to create the illusion that she was swimming “in“ the page!

The edges of some tags were distressed and finished off with some Crystal glitter paint to mirror the glitter on the various die cuts from the paper pack:

How to distress a page edge:
