StazOn Pigment ink is, like StazOn, one of Tsukineko’s speciality inks mainly made for use on non-porous surfaces. I used StazOn Pigment Passion Red for these tests. I also show one instance of the white StazOn Pigment Snowflake ink.
(Please note that this ink was not included in the original test documents from the Playing with Inks range, but you can easily add the results to the bottom of the downloadable results table)
The properties of StazOn Pigment Ink:
The label states that this is an opaque, solvent ink. Designed especially for use on non-porous surfaces such as plastic, metal, glossy papers and more.
Also important is the SAFETY WARNING: Use in well ventilated area. Do not inhale or ingest. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Keep away from flames and store at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children.
As the name indicates, this is a pigment ink. It seems like this is similar to the StazOn Opaque ink and I suspect it might be replacing it.

It is available in 12 vibrant colours in a standard pad and a re-inker. I used a standard pad.
Remember to keep the pad covered when not in use, as solvent inks evaporate quickly.
Stamping with StazOn Pigment Ink:
StazOn Pigment ink stamped perfectly even on uncoated paper. A clear, detailed image was obtained. The ink is opaque and thus not shiny. I just loved the vibrant colour of this ink!

Remember to clean your stamps and stencils immediately after use with a special solvent stamp cleaner, else your stamps will be stained permanently.
The dried stamped image was not affected by water or by the alcohol being painted over it. This surprised me as normal StazOn ink was moved by alcohol (as expected). What this means is that StazOn Pigment ink can be used to stamp an image and then colour the image with either water-based or alcohol-based markers.

Pigment inks tend to show up on dark backgrounds. StazOn Pigment ink did not disappoint. I tested the Snowflake colour as well to show what the white will look like. I always struggle to find proper white ink to stamp with on dark backgrounds.

Made for glossy surfaces, StazOn Pigment ink worked well on glossy photo paper. The colour was even more vibrant!

Other uses for StazOn Pigment Ink:
As this is probably an oil-based solvent ink, it does not mix with water in any way. This means this ink cannot be used as a watercolour-type paint and no splats can be created.

I was not able to colour gel with this ink. The gesso coloured to an extent, but I would not recommend this as a use for StazOn Pigment ink.

StazOn Pigment does not dry as fast as traditional StazOn ink. I was able to “move” this ink on paper. I could successfully blend, chalk and stencil with this ink. The only downside is that my stencil is now permanently discoloured! I tried cleaning it with solvent stamp cleaner, but it is still not 100% clean.

As stated previously, this ink does not dry as fast as traditional StazOn ink. I was surprised at how well StazOn Pigment ink can be used as a basis for heat embossing!

My Conclusion about StazOn Pigment Ink:
StazOn Pigment ink is a relatively new ink, and this was the first time ever that I got to use it. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical at first, as I have a problem using traditional StazOn because of the strong smell. I did not experience the same discomfort with StazOn Pigment and I am sure that I will be using more of these inks, especially on glossy surfaces and for heat embossing.
Remember to work in a well-ventilated area.
Don’t let this stop you from finding new and exciting ways to use this ink!
