In this post I would like to focus on some of the detailed techniques I used on the Life’s a Journey page to create the Foil Flake Title and the Distressed Page Edge.
Foil Flake title

To make a foil flake title you will need the following:
- Chipboard title
- Foil Flakes (you can use any colour flakes, I used a mixed colour batch on this page)
- Tombow mono multi liquid glue
- Paintbrush
- Water mister
- Make-up sponge
- Craft sheet
- Large bead tray
- Anti-static pad
Method:
- Squirt some Tombow glue on the craft sheet.
- Spray with a bit of water.
- Paint the watery glue mixture onto the chipboard title.
- Leave it to dry until the glue becomes tacky.
- Prepare bead tray and your fingers with the anti-static pad.
- Press foil flakes onto the title. Work inside the bead tray.
- Rub the excess foil flakes off with the make-up sponge and return the leftover flakes to the container.
Distressed Page Edge

To distress the edge of the page you will need the following:
- Pair of scissors
- Skewer stick
- Brown ink & dauber/applicator tool
Method:
- Open the scissors and start distressing the page by “scratching” the paper.
- You will see that it usually distresses well in one direction, but not in the other because of the grain of the paper/cardstock.
- Find the correct direction before continuing else you could tear the paper instead of distressing it.
- When you are happy with the distressing, carefully roll the paper/cardstock with the skewer stick in order to curl the edges.
- Now you are ready to ink the edges with the brown ink and dauber/applicator tool
Other Elements on the page
Some of the other elements I used on the page include printed embellishments, white flowers, gems, pearls, brads and die cut elements cut from bronze glitter cardstock. I inked all the printed embellishments with brown ink around the edges for a more polished look. I find inking the edges often adds depth to a project.
